Exciting cycling routes await just outside Club La Santa. Cycle through a beautiful and varied landscape, between volcanoes and the roaring Atlantic Ocean.

Cycling Holidays at Club La Santa

Smooth roads, ocean views, off road terrain, Lanzarote is a great location for cyclists! You will ride through villages, past vineyards, between volcanoes and beside the ocean.

Whether you are new to cycling and want to take on our selection of beginners classes to gain confidence, or if you’re a novice trying to brush up on your technique, we have a range of  outdoor and indoor classes, suitable for all levels.

 From road biking, to biking tours, body bikes to mountain bikes we have a range of activities to suit your biking needs.

Wherever you leave the Club La Santa grounds, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the dramatic volcanic landscape and the ocean.

Lanzarote is great for road cycling as it has smooth quiet roads. It makes us a perfect hot spot for notable cyclists.

 Road Cycling

Ride on well-kept roads with minimal traffic, where drivers are generally very considerate of cyclists. There are plenty of exciting and varied routes around the beautiful countryside just outside Club La Santa, through villages, along vineyards and between volcanoes.

There are routes for all levels- from 14.3 km to Tinajo and back, to the famous IRONMAN route of 180 km and 2550 m of elevation.

Beginners 

This tour will take you on a 20-25km route with an average speed of 18-20 km/hr.

It is suitable for anyone who doesn´t cycle very often or after taking part in our Introduction to Road Cycling.

A basic level of fitness is required and any active person should be able to enjoy this tour.

Intermediate 

This tour covers 55-60km with an average speed of 24-26km/hr.

It is suitable for the recreational cyclist who rides a few times per week.

A moderate level of fitness is required to join this tour and it is expected that you are comfortable riding in group situations.

Advanced 

This tour takes you on a 70-90km route with an average speed of 27-29km/hr.

You must be an experienced road biker to join this tour with a good level of fitness and be confident riding in a group in order to join this tour.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking in Lanzarote is an incredible experience, whether you are riding along the coast beside the wondrous blue ocean or venturing inland to tackle the mighty volcanoes. There is an abundance of exhilarating trails suitable for everyone, from beginners to advanced riders. Much of the island is never seen by visitors, but mountain biking opens up these difficult to access parts, leading you to breath-taking views. We offer group rides for both beginner and intermediate mountain bikers.

Introduction to MTB 

If you have never mountain biked before, or you haven’t for a long time, we recommend that you book this tour. It is a short session designed to improve mountain biking skills (e.g.riding on lose ground, navigating tight corners and switchbacks, riding through basic obstacles etc.) and includes specific drills and exercises that will help you get ready for completing more technical trails and improve your overall MTB riding ability. Recommended before joining the MTB beginners and intermediate tour. 

Beginners MTB Tour

This tour covers around 12km with an average speed of 10-12 km/hr. It is suitable for someone who doesn´t bike very often and has a basic level of fitness.

Intermediate MTB Tour

A 30-35km MTB ride through rocky, dusty and sandy terrain. The average speed is 16k-18km/hr and it involves steep technical climbs and challenge descents with between 300 and 500m of climbing. All riders must be proficient/ experienced mountain bikers.

Bike Centre

Opening times for the Bike Centre – 08:00am – 18:00pm.

Our Bike Centre stocks a full range of over 600 bikes, which can be booked online here.

Our Cannondale racing bikes and mountain bikes are available in a full range of sizes.Please note that all Mountain Bikes and Racing Bikes come fitted with turn pedals which have SPD clips on one side and are normal flat pedals on the other. We are happy to fit your own pedals to the bike if you have another system, but you must provide the pedals. Alternatively, SPD cleats can be bought in the Club La Santa Sports Shop for a good price.
If you want to try something different, we have a tandem bike available to borrow, free of charge.

Our mechanics can fit Look Classic (Delta), Look Keo, Shimano SL or SPD mountain bike pedals for no extra cost. Alternatively if you prefer to bring your own pedals these can also be fitted for you.

Prices
In addition to our free bike hire, we can arrange pre-bookable bike hire for an additional charge for a minimum of 3 days.

Prices are €25 per day (minimum of 3 consecutive days) or €126 per week. Additional days after the first week will have a charge of 14  per extra day.

Bike Rental

Visit the Bike Centre to borrow road bikes, mountain bikes, city bikes, children’s bikes, baby joggers, etc. We have around 600 bikes in different sizes. You book your bike via the Club La Santa app or Sports Booking after check in.

We have the following models available:

  • MTB: Cannondale Trail SL2
  • Road: Cannondale CAAD13 Disc Tiagra
  • Gravel: Cannondale Topstone 2
  • Citybikes: Cannondale Quick 4 Disc
  • E-bikes: Cannondale Tesoro Neo X 2
  • Tandem – Cannondale 29er
  • Children’s bikes (from 12″ balance bikes and 16″ with training wheels, to 18″, 20, 24″ and 26″ kids bikes)

Are you a serious cyclist who wants to ride only the best? Rent a Cannondale Carbon bike at the Club La Santa Bike Centre. We also have electric bikes for rent, but please make sure to book well in advance to secure yours. Book your bike here

All the bikes are provided with a saddle bag that includes a spare innertube and tyre levers, and a pump mounted on the bike.

Please note that any customisation, such as swapping saddles, isn’t possible on the bikes on loan. This service is only available for rented bikes.

Helmets and Pedals

Helmets are compulsory in Lanzarote, and you can borrow them from the Bike Centre for free.

You can have Look Delta, Look Keo, Shimano SL or SPD mountain bike pedals fitted at the bike centre too – free of charge, of course. Please note that we only have a limited number, however. Bring your own pedals, and we’ll be happy to fit them for you.

FAQs

What types of bikes can I borrow?

At the bike centre you can borrow road bikes, mountain bikes, city bikes, tandems and children’s bikes, all included in the price of your stay. You can also rent bikes carbon road bikes or electric bikes.

We have bikes in many sizes: from running bikes in the smallest sizes, to bikes suitable for adults over 190 cm.

Most of our bikes are from the brand Cannondale.

How do I book to borrow a bike?

You can reserve bikes on the Club La Santa app after check-in. You can borrow bikes for specific time intervals of 2 to 3 hours, which you can book in the app. If bikes are available, you can also borrow bikes over multiple time slots.

It’s essential that you return the bike before your booked time is up. If you’d like to have a bike over several days, you can also rent a bike from the Bike Centre for an additional fee.

How do I rent a bike?

You may rent Cannondale SuperSix Carbon Ultegra and Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105, for a period of at least 3 days.

We also have E-bikes that you can rent for 1 day.

We recommend booking well in advance to ensure you have the exact bike you want during your holiday.

Can I bring my own saddle?

You may customise rented bikes with your own saddle and other equipment – just ask and we’ll do it for you. If you’ve had a bike fit, we can also adjust the bike to your measurements.

Please note that customisation is only possible on rented bikes.

Can I rent cycling shoes?

We do not rent cycling shoes, but you may purchase them in our Sports Shop.

Does the bike come with spare parts such as patches?

Yes, all bikes come with a saddle bag with an extra innertube and tyre lever, as well as a mini pump and two bottle cages. We can also provide a map with contact information for the local taxi companies if you wish.

Can I buy bicycle equipment and spare parts at Club La Santa?

Yes, the Bike Centre sells an assortment of equipment. You can also find a range of products such as cycling clothing in the Sports Shop.

Is insurance included when I rent a carbon bike?

Insurance is not included in the rent but can be purchased. It is not compulsory to get insurance, but we recommend it. You can also check with your travel insurance if they cover it.
