Club La Santa is a great place to be active as a family, particularly over the summer months during the school summer holidays. It might be a little too hot for a fast lunchtime run (unless you’re heat training!) but there are so many other things to do, both as a family and individually. With over 500 weekly activities and 80 different sports to choose from, there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained, with the flexibility to do as much or as little as you like!
Club La Santa Ambassador Sophie Power shares her top tips to make the most out of your family summer holiday at the world’s number one sports resort:
1.Take advantage of the long days by training earlier and later in the day (with a siesta in-between!)
The padel courts are open from 5.45am to 10pm with the 50m pools open 8am until 8pm. The track is floodlit, so you can run any time of day or night, and the kids love playing on the football pitch in the evening. We love a game of crazy golf after dinner when it’s cooler – make sure you take your clubs from sports booking before it closes at 7pm and drop them back in the morning.
2. Take advantage of the indoor activities available
If you don’t fancy a siesta, there are lots of indoor activities to try. The South Hall is airconditioned, so we often book a badminton court after lunch to cool off. There is also squash, table tennis and bouldering indoors, as well as classes in the studio (aerial fitness is my favourite). And of course, there is the gym itself which has a large area for stretching/ mat work.
For younger children (under 7) the activity garden at Playtime is in the shade and open until 6pm, and there are also new shaded areas of the main playground.
3. Remember to relax and enjoy your holiday!
Having time to relax away from the endless activities is just as important. The large leisure pool with diving board is always refreshing and lane 1 of South Pool is in the shade most of the day if you want to keep out of the sun (you can book specific lanes on the app). For me there’s nothing better than a trip around the lagoon on a stand-up paddleboard in the sunshine. My youngest sit on mine and jump off and swim to the little beaches, whilst my 9-year-old loves having his own mini kayak.
